Jay Z Releases "100$ Bill" From "The Great Gatsby" Soundtrack

Throwing in his own contribution to the soundtrack of the movie he scored, Jay-Z released "100$ Bill" off of "The Great Gatsby" album on Thursday (May 2).
Interspersed with quotes from Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, the lyrics go from self-promotion to literary icons, as he raps, "I write like Mark Twain, Jay Gatsby I park thangs/ Yellow cars, yellow gold, like Slick Rick, still tip/ On four-fours, fo-fos at the four-O, four-O."
Recently, the 43-year-old rapper spoke to Blacktree.TV about his foray into the movie business, sharing, "It's not the typical soundtrack, or a standalone piece. The songs are pretty much in the film, so it goes hand in hand with each other. It had to fit pretty snug, it wasn't an afterthought."
Blending modern tunes into a film set in the 1920's may be a head-scratcher, but Jay explains, "Music is music no matter what. Timeless music is timeless music. It doesn't matter what genre."
Check out "100$ Bill" below, which contains explicit language which may be offensive to some viewers.

Jay-Z Brings Hip-Hop to "The Great Gatsby" Premiere

Crossing over from the world of hip-hop to the big screen, Jay-Z attended the premiere of "The Great Gatsby" at Avery Fisher Hall in New York City on Wednesday (May 1).
The "99 Problems" rapper hit the red carpet in a finely-tailored suit, and got a chance to try his hand at scoring the soundtrack in the Baz Luhrmann-directed adaptation.
In addition to hi contribution, the 43-year-old husband of Beyoncé Knowles contributed his track, "100$ Bill" to the movie's album.
In an interview with MTV News, one of the film's stars, Carey Mulligan, admitted that she expects to get a bit starstruck upon meeting Mr. Carter, sharing, "I've been told he might come to the premiere, and I'm freaking out. Because he's the one person I'm going to meet and have no idea how to talk to. I've never met him. I'm genuinely nervous already. He's just this huge, like, genius. And I never in a million years thought I'd be in a Baz Luhrmann film with Leonardo DiCaprio, but with a soundtrack by Jay-Z? Yeah, it's pretty amazing."

Jay Z Linked to Satanic Sex Cult - Ordo Templi Orientis

There's a new claim that Jay Z is a devotee of the satanic sex cult, Ordo Templi Orientis, founded by Aleister Crowley (pictured right). The things you hear! I'm not convinced though but read and reach your own conclusions....

From The Daily Mail
Ordo Templi Orientis founding 'prophet' Aleister Crowley, who was born into an upper-class British family in 1875, styled himself as 'the Great Beast 666'. He was an unabashed occultist who, prior to his death in 1947, reveled in his infamy as 'the wickedest man in the world'.
His form of worship involved sadomasochistic sex rituals with men and women, spells which he claimed could raise malevolent gods and the use of hard drugs, including opium, cocaine, heroin and mescaline. Crowley’s motto — perpetuated by OTO — was 'do what thou wilt'. And it is this individualistic approach that has led to a lasting fascination among artists and celebrities.
…celebrities linked to OTO include the rapper Jay-Z, who has repeatedly purloined imagery and quotations from Aleister Crowley.
Whether wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with 'Do what thou wilt' or hiring Rihanna to hold aloft a flaming torch in his music videos (a reference to the Illuminati, an outlawed secret society whose name supposedly derives from Lucifer, or 'light bringer'), he has given the sect priceless publicity.
His clothing line, Rocawear, is shot through with OTO imagery such as the 'all seeing eye' in a triangle, the 'eye of Horus' (an ancient Egyptian symbol frequently referenced in occult texts) and the head of Baphomet (the horned, androgynous idol of Western occultism).
Some conspiracy theorists have seized on this as evidence that he is a member of a secret Masonic movement which they believe permeates the highest levels of business and government.
Others take a more pragmatic view: that it is commercial opportunism, cashing in on impressionable teens’ attraction to the 'edginess' of occult symbolism.

Jay-Z Resigns Ownership of Brooklyn Nets

He’s on the road to developing Roc Nation Sports agency, so Jay-Z had to say goodbye to his role as part owner of the Brooklyn Nets.
The “99 Problems” rapper explained that while he may not be on the investor roster, he still has love for the team.
Jay began, "Being a member of the Nets organization surpassed some of my greatest ambitions. It was never about an investment; it was about the NETS and Brooklyn. My job as an owner is over but as a fan it has just begun. I'm a Brooklyn Net forever. It's been an honor to work with Mikhail Prokhorov, Dmitry Razumov, Christophe Charlier, ONEXIM Sports and Entertainment, Brett Yormark and all the wonderful people involved in making the Nets first class.”
“My sincerest thanks goes to Bruce Ratner, who first introduced the idea of moving the Nets to Brooklyn. A thank you and deepest appreciation goes to the fans. You are the lifeblood of any team."
He continued, "The Nets have made their mark on the NBA and as they enter a new era, Roc Nation does as well; as we embark on Roc Nation Sports. Our newest endeavor is committed to building the brands of professional athletes as we have done for some of today's top music artists. For Roc Nation Sports to function at its full potential, NBA rules stipulate that I relinquish my ownership in the Brooklyn Nets. It was a tough decision but as I stated earlier, it's not about ownership. Congratulations to The Nets on a great season and making the playoffs! I will always be a Brooklyn Net."

President Obama Talks Jay-Z & Beyonce’s Cuba Trip

He’s the leader of the free world, and President Barack Obama has way too much on his plate to worry about celebrity travel itineraries.
During his interview with “Today,” the Commander-in-Chief confessed that despite reports to the contrary he didn’t have any information on Jay-Z and BeyoncĂ© Knowles' recent controversial trip to Cuba.
Obama noted, “I wasn’t familiar that they were taking the trip. My understanding is I think they went through a group that organizes these educational trips down to Cuba. You know, this is not something the White House was involved with. We've got better things to do."
Instead, Barack shared he’s working on making the USA a better place. “I feel personally responsible the same way I hope every parent out there feels responsible for all our kids. The key thing for me, is every once in a while we are confronted with an issue that should transcend politics."
"I think the political engines of the party and blogs, et cetera, force people into taking more extreme positions publicly than they actually believe privately. I’m willing to try anything. As I’ve said, I'm willing to wash folks' cars and walk their dogs if I can get some legislation passed."

White House Responds to Jay Z's "Open Letter"

Just hours after Jay-Z dropped a new tune to address the negative press surrounding he and his wife Beyonce's recent trip to Cuba, the White House has released their own response to the song.
In the track titled "Open Letter," the 43-year-old rapped, "boy from the hood but got White House clearance," adding, "Obama said chill, you gonna get me impeached/You don't need this s--t anyway, chill with me on the beach."
After many speculated that Jay was implying President Barack Obama had something to do with his clearance to travel to Havana, White House press secretary Jay Carney cleared up all possible questions.
During a press conference on Thursday (April 11), Carney said, "I guess nothing rhymes with 'Treasury,'" he joked. "Because Treasury offers and gives licenses for travel as you know, and the White House has nothing to do with it."
"I am absolutely saying that the White House, from the president on down, had nothing to do with anybody's travel to Cuba. That is something the Treasury handles. OFAC, Treasury, these are tough words to rhyme," Carney stated.

Beyonce & Jay-Z's Trip Okd by US; Roc Nation Partners with Universal Music

All they wanted to do was go on a nice get away to celebrate their anniversary, but Beyonce and Jay-Z didn’t know how much controversy their trip would stir up.
Married for five years, the musical couple spent last week relaxing and sight-seeing, in Havanna, Cuba, a location off limits to most Americans since the 1960’s.
As it turned out, the expedition, which caused politicians to demand the purpose of the lovebirds stay in the tropical country, was approved by the United States government.
According to TMZ on Monday (April 8), the trip got the go-ahead from the U.S. Treasury Department and was deemed a fully licensed “cultural” trip.
In professional news, it seems as though Jay-Z’s entertainment company Roc Nation is partnering up with Universal Music Group and will operate as an independent label within the larger group.
A statement released by the mogul said, "This agreement presents a unique opportunity for Roc Nation's artists — being able to continue to operate as an independent label with the strength, power and reach of the best major. I look forward to a long and prosperous collaboration with UMG. It feels good to be home.”
