President Obama Talks Jay-Z & Beyonce’s Cuba Trip

He’s the leader of the free world, and President Barack Obama has way too much on his plate to worry about celebrity travel itineraries.
During his interview with “Today,” the Commander-in-Chief confessed that despite reports to the contrary he didn’t have any information on Jay-Z and Beyoncé Knowles' recent controversial trip to Cuba.

Obama noted, “I wasn’t familiar that they were taking the trip. My understanding is I think they went through a group that organizes these educational trips down to Cuba. You know, this is not something the White House was involved with. We've got better things to do."
Instead, Barack shared he’s working on making the USA a better place. “I feel personally responsible the same way I hope every parent out there feels responsible for all our kids. The key thing for me, is every once in a while we are confronted with an issue that should transcend politics."
"I think the political engines of the party and blogs, et cetera, force people into taking more extreme positions publicly than they actually believe privately. I’m willing to try anything. As I’ve said, I'm willing to wash folks' cars and walk their dogs if I can get some legislation passed."

White House Responds to Jay Z's "Open Letter"

Just hours after Jay-Z dropped a new tune to address the negative press surrounding he and his wife Beyonce's recent trip to Cuba, the White House has released their own response to the song.
In the track titled "Open Letter," the 43-year-old rapped, "boy from the hood but got White House clearance," adding, "Obama said chill, you gonna get me impeached/You don't need this s--t anyway, chill with me on the beach."

After many speculated that Jay was implying President Barack Obama had something to do with his clearance to travel to Havana, White House press secretary Jay Carney cleared up all possible questions.
During a press conference on Thursday (April 11), Carney said, "I guess nothing rhymes with 'Treasury,'" he joked. "Because Treasury offers and gives licenses for travel as you know, and the White House has nothing to do with it."
"I am absolutely saying that the White House, from the president on down, had nothing to do with anybody's travel to Cuba. That is something the Treasury handles. OFAC, Treasury, these are tough words to rhyme," Carney stated.

Stars Send in their RSVP's for White House Correspondents' Dinner

With one of the social events of the season just a scant month away, celebs are returning their RSVP’s for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Since President Obama took office, the light-hearted evening has become a can’t-miss event for politically active Hollywood stars.

News agencies are eager to get A-listers to fill their tables, and attendance at the dinner has been around 2,500 and has earned its own Twitter hashtag - “nerdprom.”
Celebrities sending their regrets include George Clooney and Ben Affleck, while Elizabeth Banks, Eric Stonestreet, and Matthew Perry plan on being there.
According to reports, Kim Kardashian is on the fence as to whether she will show up, but her boyfriend Kanye West is a definite no.
The While House Correspondents’ Dinner will take place on Saturday, April 27 at the Washington Hilton, with Conan O'Brien hosting.

Showing off her darling bangs and famous smile, Michelle Obama rocks the cover of Vogue magazine’s April 2013 issue.
The 49-year-old First Lady shows off her toned arms in a Reed Krakoff dress for the Annie Leibovitz cover shoot while chatting with the magazine about her husband President Barack Obama and their two daughters, Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11.

"Our job is, first and foremost, to make sure our family is whole. You know, we have small kids; they're growing every day," Mrs. Obama explains. "But I think we were both pretty straightforward when we said, 'Our No. 1 priority is making sure that our family is whole.'"
The added stress of living in the White House takes its toll on the mind, and she said, "The stresses and the pressures of this job are so real that when you get a minute, you want to give that extra energy to your 14- and 11-year-old."
In regards to her hubby, Michelle said, “I think we are accountable to each other for being who we are." President Obama also chimed in to add, "We're a team."
Michelle continued to praise the 51-year-old President, and added, "Well, patience and calm I'm borrowing. Or trying to mirror. I've learned that from my husband, that sort of, you know, ability to not get too high or too low with changes and bumps in the road. To do more breathing in and just going with it. I'm learning that every day. And to the extent that I’ve made changes in my life, it's just sort of stepping back and seeing a change not as something to guard against but as a wonderful addition. . . that can make life fun and unexpected."

US 2012 Presidential Debate: Celebrities React

 

It has been an electrifying election season so far, and last night (October 3) President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney faced off in the first of three debates.
The topics ranged from the economy to health care to the role of government, with nearly all news networks, including MSNBC, CBS, CNN, and FOX News, concluding that Romney came out on top.
As for our favorite celebrities, though, there was a diversity of opinion expressed in the Twitterverse following the event.
“Saturday Night Live” alum Dennis Miller opined, “Obama better hope a Kicked Ass is covered under Obamacare,” while “Pulp Fiction” star Samuel L. Jackson ranted, “What Really happened tonite?! NOBODY changed who they’re voting for!! NOBODY!!!”
Usually behind Obama, Joy Behar lamented, “Obama blew it. I hate to say it but Romney was lying and Obama didn’t hit him on it,” and uber-liberal Bill Maher noted, “i can’t believe i’m saying this, but Obama looks like he DOES need a teleprompter.”
Still, Eva Longoria seemed convinced that the President did well- “I’m in New Zealand watching the presidential debate! Obama is killing it on health care! #Obama2012.”

Breaking News Obama's Open Mic Medvedev Missile Gaffe

Barack Obama's rivals for the White House have pounced on controversial comments he thought he had made in private to the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

The US President was overheard on an open microphone telling Mr Medvedev that he could be more flexible in negotiations on the issue of missile defence if he is re-elected in November.
He said: "This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility."
The exchange happened on the sidelines of a nuclear security summit in South Korea and Mr Medvedev is heard to respond positively in English.
He said: "I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir."
The President's comments triggered criticism from Republicans at home, including White House frontrunner Mitt Romney who called them "an alarming and troubling development".
"President Obama signalled that he's going to cave to Russia on missile defence but the American people have a right to know where else he plans to be 'flexible' in a second term," he said.
"President Obama needs to level with the American public about his real agenda."
A spokesman for Mr Obama's re-election campaign spokesman accused Romney of "undermining his credibility by distorting the president's words".
And the White House has been desperately trying to limit the damage of the overheard remarks by insisting it is committed to implementing the missile defence shield despite Russian objections.
Deputy national security advisor Ben Rhodes said: "Since 2012 is an election year in both countries, with an election and leadership transition in Russia and an election in the United States, it is clearly not a year in which we are going to achieve a breakthrough."
Mr Obama made light of the incident at the start of the Nuclear Security Summit in South Korea.
He was about to sit down when he saw Mr Medvedev two seats away.
Mr Obama said: "Wait, wait, wait, wait." He then moved to cover up his microphone in jest.
Russia has strongly criticised plans for a US-led Nato missile defence shield in Europe, claiming it would target its nuclear deterrent and undermine global stability.
The US has said the planned missile shield is intended to counter threats from Iran.
Republican congressman Mike Turner, the chairman of the House of Representatives' Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, has written to Mr Obama demanding an "urgent explanation" of his comments.
At last year's G20 summit, an open microphone caught Mr Obama and French president Nicolas Sarkozy discussing their relationships with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
:: Russian bloggers have ridiculed Mr Medvedev, who is widely seen as a lame duck president, over his promise to "transmit" Mr Obama's open-mic message to Vladimir Putin, who reassumes the top job on May 7.
"Vladimiru", the Russian for "to Vladimir", became a worldwide Twitter trend in a just a few hours as it was used as a universal response to any sort of statement or demand.
Typical was "I am Dima, I don't want to make any decisions. I will transmit to Vladimir", a tweet by @sul, using the familiar name for Dmitry.
