It’s finally here, I can already
feel the love! Recently, I was having a “what would you get for
Valentine’s Day?” conversation with a close male friend of mine.
Immediately I asked what he was giving his girlfriend this year, he
started listing like he’d been rehearsing it all his life: “A 12
inch Cake from Bakers World, a ‘SeeByChloe’ Perfume by Chloe”, some
chocolates, tickets to Darey’s ‘love: like a movie’ concert and I’m
still trying to buy the Z10 Blackberry she said she wanted.“
I think his precision in listing all
those items so well is rooted in the number of times his girlfriend
repeated them in his ear.
Come to think of it, ladies, do you
think that maybe, just maybe, we have gotten so used to being on
the receiving end that we’ve forgotten how to give? Do you notice how
the guys hardly ever get excited when Valentine’s Day comes around? Why
do you think that is? To get my answer, I decided to do a small Survey
with celebrities and regular guys, where I asked them what they would
really want for Valentine’s Day. This is what the guys had to say.

for a brief interview on what Valentine’s Day means to him, his
experiences and plans for the magical day.
What do you want for Valentine’s day?
To be honest I’m not really picky when it comes to gifts. I believe it’s more about the thought than the actual gift.
Do you think Valentine’s Day is all about the girl?
I think Valentine’s Day is about the relationship(s) you have. Two
people expressing or reaffirming their feelings for each other; it’s not
about HIM or HER, but about THEM.
Have you ever gotten a bad Valentine’s Day gift?
I can’t say I’ve received a gift that I would say was bad because,
like I said, it’s not really about the gift. Although if I had to say
what my least favorite gift was, it would have to be having no one to
share Valentine’s Day with (if you get what i mean)
What are your plans for the special day?
During our brief interview when we asked the Mavin member, all he said was ”Its private…” It must be very special if he doesn’t want anyone to know about it.

An ACURA hybrid ZDX 2012… ‘Lol’ but since I can’t have that, I want a
proper ‘TITANIC’ cruise ship weekend for 2. One that comes with the
Valentine suite, breakfast, ballroom dancing and all the perks.
Do you think Valentine’s Day is all about the girl ?
Nooo! but yes. We all know it’s a day declared to show love and
appreciation. I focus on how I can channel that and make it happen for
others. Some people would choose to spend that time at charity homes or
at their parents or even just with strangers. But if you have a special
person in your life I strongly advice you include her in the
activities.
Have you ever gotten a bad Valentine’s Day gift?
This is a hard one. Well someone gave me a big box once. After
unwrapping it, all I found was a note saying “Knowing you got a gift is
what’s important…Not the gift itself” so I’m guessing that qualifies as
bad.
What are your plans for the special day?
Who says wishes don’t come true? I will be going on a cruise today.

No. Everyday for me is about love. Love to true friends, love to family, love to “her” and love to myself.

Yes, I got a pack of singlets and boxers. Please, I can buy that
myself. I think I deserve to be gifted something more tangible. And the
thing about this gift is that I liked the girl so much that I didn’t
even care about it then. But when she broke my heart, I began to see all
her faults. ‘Lol’
What are your plans for the special day?
I just relocated to South Africa, so I will be spending it alone.
And as usual, I’ll also be enjoying scenery of the beautiful city.

What do you want for Valentine’s Day?
Truth be told, It’ll honestly be perfect if “she” promises to
continue being loyal to our friendship; that means she’ll be my ‘bestie’
for life! Because right now my girlfriend has got all the qualities I
crave from a friend.
Do you think Valentine’s Day is all about the girl?
From my point of view and experiences I’ve had, YES!
On a good day, entertainers, especially male entertainers, tend to
overlook the quality time and mood that brings closure and understanding
of our spouses. So Valentine’s Day should be all about the girl! It
should be more or less like an anniversary no matter how small the
celebration or short the relationship is. In fact, left to me, it should
be more than once a year just like the weather: Winter Valentine’s Day,
Fall Valentine’s Day and even Summer Valentine’s Day.
Have you ever gotten a bad Valentine’s Day gift?
Well BN, truth be told, this is the second Valentine’s Day I am
actually acknowledging. So you can imagine what last year, being the
first, was like. But keep in mind that the plans and arrangements I’m
making this time around are already making last year’s Valentine’s look
like child’s play.
What are your plans for the special day?
I’m taking her on a romantic trip to a surprise country. She doesn’t
know where we are going yet and I cant tell you so she won’t read it
here first. She’ll figure it out at the airport. I’m really looking
forward to this.

Well something engraved would be nice. It could have that
personalized touch of maybe my name or something that’s significant to
me. It could be anything, as long as it’s engraved, so I know it’s real.

No, I don’t think Valentine’s Day should be all about the girl, even
the focus is always on her. Love should be shared or showed both ways.

Yes. It was boxer briefs. It wasn’t exactly romantic and it gave me mixed signals.

I’m having dinner with my single friends. After work we are going to go out and stuff ourselves.
