After being slapped with a multi-million dollar lawsuit from a hair care company, Katy Perry is fighting back with her own $6.5 million countersuit.
Jemella Group Limited originally sued the "Firework" singer to try to prevent her from suing them. The company was already aware that the 28-year-old songstress was claiming that they had an oral agreement to extend her original written contract.
However, they seemed to have opened the door for the action, as
Katy fired back on Monday, alleging that the company "continues to use
Perry's name and image on its website to promote its hair care products.
ghd has failed to honor its contractual obligations to Perry, yet it
continues to benefit from Perry by using her name and image without
compensating her."
According to TMZ, Ms. Perry's rep said, "They're backing out of the deal because of an ownership change, and just throwing shade to hide their bad faith."
