Hoping to tackle another '60s spy franchise, Tom Cruise is looking to suit up for the big screen adaptation of "The Man from U.N.C.L.E."
According to Deadline, the 50-year-old actor is likely to sign onto the Guy Ritchie-directed film, playing leading man Napoleon Solo.
Originally portrayed by Robert Vaughn in the mid-'60s television
series, the "Mission Impossible" star will play one of two top agents of
the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement.
Speaking to ComingSoon.net, screenwriter Scott Z. Burns said of the setting, "I thought it would be really fun to go back and look at spycraft in the Cold War and what you could and couldn't do. When you think about the world in the 1960's just in terms of cars and fashion and the aesthetic, to be able to go and shoot that world with today's cameras and today's technology, I think we could do some really cool stuff."
