Drogba Down Valencia As Gunners Crash In Greece

Didier Drogba grabbed a crucial double as Chelsea moved into the last 16 of the Champions League as Group E winners after a 3-0 win over Valencia.
Drogba gave the Blues a flying start in the third minute, and Ramires doubled the lead before the Ivorian capped a comprehensive victory with 14 minutes remaining.
Raul Meireles had already tested Diego Alves before Juan Mata teed up Drogba, who was given time and space to bury a left-footed effort across Alves and into the corner.
Valencia responded almost immediately when Jordi Alba's crunching volley hammered the upright, and Petr Cech then flung himself to his left to tip Albelda's well-struck 25-yard effort wide.
But Chelsea doubled their lead on 22 minutes when Victor Ruiz failed to deal with Drogba's over-hit through-ball and Ramires stole in to prod past Alves.
Sturridge caused plenty of problems with his pace and movement but was denied by Alves three times either side of the break, while Drogba dragged wide with the goal at his mercy.
But he made no mistake on 76 minutes as he raced onto Mata's defence-splitting pass and poked beyond the onrushing Alves.
Cech produced excellent reaction saves to keep out goalbound efforts from Sofiane Feghouli and Aritz Aduriz, and Chelsea were confirmed as group winners when Bayer Leverkusen could only muster a 1-1 draw at Genk.

Olympiakos 3-1 Arsenal

Arsenal were beaten for the first time in this season's Champions League as their second string went down 3-1 to hungry Olympiakos.
Goals from Rafik Djebbour (16), David Fuster (36) and Francois Modesto (89) rendered Yossi Benayoun's reply (57) irrelevant, but Marseille's late win in Germany dumped out the Greek champions regardless.
The Gunners' young players on show may have been exposed in a hostile arena but the listlessness of some senior colleagues scarcely helped their cause, and injuries to Lukasz Fabianski and Andre Santos made it a bad night.
Andrey Arshavin and Emmanuel Frimpong missed early chances, but it was one-way traffic once Sebastien Squillaci's hesitant clearance rebounded off Johan Djourou for Djebbour to finish.
Fabianski exited after a clash wth Thomas Vermaelen and replacement Vito Mannone was to blame for the second, the keeper compounding a weak header with a comical attempt to cut out Fuster's half-hit return shot.
Benayoun volleyed in to halve the arrears, but Olympiakos might have plundered a hatful before Modesto followed up Olof Mellberg's header to net.
