Though his bizarre behavior lately has incurred raised eyebrows at the least and harsh criticism at the most, Justin Bieber assures fans, "I'm not perfect, but I'm growing and trying to be better everyday."
In an interview with Us Weekly, the "Beauty and a Beat" singer explained a few of the tabloid headlines and denied that he was heading towards some sort of breakdown.
Upset with the negative media attention, the 19-year-old pop star
laments, "The biggest misconception about me is that I'm a bad person. I
get upset about that. I have a big heart. I want to be a good role
model, but some people want me to fail."
Referring to the photograph showing himself heading to his London hotel sans shirt, he explains, "I still had part of my tour wardrobe on and was rushing into my hotel." However, he did not explain about the airport shirtless photo from Poland earlier this week.
Another strange shot of the teen heartthrob in a gas mask took viewers aback, but he laughed it off saying, "I wanted to hide my face from all the cameras. They got it as a joke. My friends and I like messing around."
When rumors swirled after the Biebs was hospitalized after fainting on stage, Justin shared, "I passed out from the flu. The worst thing to me is disappointing my fans -- we only had five songs left -- so they gave me oxygen, and I decided to finish the show and then go to the hospital. The show must go on."
Determined to avoid a fall from grace, he says, "This business can break you down, but I have a strong team around me, and my family and all the fans. The love overcomes the negativity. I'm not perfect but I'm growing and trying to be better everyday. That's part of life." He adds, "I'm young and I want to have fun. I don't think there is anything wrong with that."
