After being in negotiations for the project since last fall, Johnny Depp will officially join the upcoming film "Transcendence."
Directed by newcomer Wally Pfister, the sci-fi flick is set to begin production this summer. According to IMDB, the story follows a scientist who uploads his brain into a supercomputer after he is assassinated by anti-technology terrorists.
The schedule will allow for the 49-year-old to star in the movie "Black Mass," about mob boss Whitey Bulger and the FBI's witness protection program.
Directed by Barry Levinson, the crime drama is currently in pre-production with hopes to hit theaters sometime in 2014.
