Sabella: It is difficult for Messi to play badly

Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella is delighted with Barcelona star Lionel Messi's current level of performance and the amount of goals he scores.

At a press conference ahead of his side's qualification match against Chile at the National Stadium, the 57-year-old took the time to explain why he thinks Messi is a crucial part of La Albiceleste's success.

"it is difficult for him to play badly. Now he is playing very well and, besides, he is scoring a lot of goals," the South American told reporters.

"When you have a player of Messi's quality it is important he is calm, content and happy. It is a group task."

Argentina travel to Chile in the hope of extending their lead at the top of the South American Conmebol qualifying table, and Sabella also spent time talking about their next opponents.

"Chile's recent results have not been the best. They are at the stage where they need points.

"They have a great team and a great coach, who is very demanding, demands that you are switched on and with a lot of focus on scoring.

"They attack a lot and we will have to be at our best to get a good result."

Sabella is expected to use the same XI players against Chile who defeated Uruguay 3-0 last Friday. The World Cup qualification match is due to start on October 17 at 14:05CET.
