A terrified toddler was almost kidnapped from a public courtyard when her father came to the rescue to fight off her attacker! Read on to find out what happened.
Kelly Davis, 31, is being hailed as a hero after he saved his daughter, two-year-old Myla Davis-Green from her alleged abductor during a family outing in Chicago.
Kelly and his family were visiting Daley Plaza in Chicago, a public courtyard in the middle of the city, when a stranger came after little Myla.
"I noticed that this guy was heading in our direction and his attention was focused our way," Kelly told ABC, according to the Daily Mail.
As the kids were playing on the plaza's famous Picasso statue, the father of three noticed the man was approaching his daughter.
Although Kelly tried to intervene and step in front of his daughter, the man, later identified as James Gates, 55, persisted and grabbed at the two-year-old girl.
"This is my daughter, Goldilocks," James muttered.
"He wanted to fight me," Kelly told the Chicago Tribune. "I said, 'Listen buddy, I don't know what you're on but you need to get away from my family.'"
After the father pushed the attempted abductor away, the man punched Kelly in the face and ran off. But the angered dad stayed in hot pursuit, on the man's heels for more than 30 minutes.
"If he would've ran to the end of the city, I would've chased him to the end of the city," Kelly said.
Eventually, police caught up with the two and arrested James on charges of kidnapping and battery.
How scary! We're SO glad Kelly was there to fight off the alleged kidnapper!
