Because She Loves Him "Rihanna Cried"

Rihanna is one courageous young woman. The fact that she so honestly opens up to Oprah on the show Oprah’s Next Chapter, airing on OWN, Sunday, Aug. 19 at 9 p.m., and reveals how she feels about ex-boyfriend Chris Brown assaulting her, takes a lot of guts. It’s risky on so many levels. It’s risky for her to let her fans and the world hear her true feelings — how she felt hurt, angry and betrayed by Chris. But also how she felt protective of him, even though he abused her.

“I felt like he made that mistake because he needed help,” she tells Oprah. “And who’s going to help him? Nobody is going to say he needs help, everybody’s going to say he’s a monster without looking at the source. And I was more concerned about him.”
Rihanna knows that by admitting this, it may anger some of her fans who think she should have kicked Chris to the curb and cut off all communication with him.
Instead, the former girlfriend and boyfriend are now in touch regularly, see each other and have even made music together recently on each other’s recordings.
It’s also risky for her own re-budding relationship with Chris, to remind the world about what happened, instead of hoping people would forget if she refused to discuss it.
But it appears that it’s Rihanna’s continuing love for Chris that has motivated her to try and make her fans understand that he is not a “monster.” She’s actually protecting him by speaking out.
“She’s crying because she thought she had met her soulmate, she didn’t want anything to tear them apart and then he did something reprehensible,” explains Cooper Lawrence, relationship expert and host of the “Loose Talk” podcast. “Now she probably feels that if he’s going to heal, and get control of his anger for good, he needs his friends, including her.”
Lawrence does believe that Rihanna herself must have seen a good therapist because she did not get back together with Chris, at least not yet. In fact, penpointreview.blogspot.com has heard that she did seek treatment with a top therapist.
In any case, let’s hope that Chris appreciates Rihanna’s courageous decision to try and have the world see him through her eyes. See Rihanna’s interview with Oprah below.
