She was almost reduced to tears as an emotional Annie Lennox told her she is "bigger than fashion" as she presented it to her.
And following her tradition of winning multiple awards, Adele also received a second Ivor Novello, beating Take That to the honour of Most Performed Work.
As she picked up the gong she said she didn't expect Rolling In The Deep to take off, and seemed genuinely surprised that it beat Take That's The Flood.
She apologised to her competition saying: "Sorry boys, I do love you Take That."
The band didn't go home empty handed though - they won the award for Outstanding Contribution To British Music.
Mark Owen thanked his wife, who's having a baby soon, joking that she sends him into the garden to write songs when she wants him out of the way.
"Most of all we love all writing together now," he added.
PJ Harvey beat Adele to win in the Best Album category which was an all-female contest - with Kate Bush also nominated - and Ed Sheeran won Best Song.
He was thrilled to win for The A Team (up against Adele and Florence and the Machine), saying backstage: "I'm very surprised, it's an honour to be nominated and I didn't expect this.
"It's also a great moment for gingers as all three in my category," he added.
Spandau Ballet's Gary Kemp won the Outstanding Song Collection Award at the music industry bash at London's Grosvenor Hotel, and Paul Simon took the Lifetime Achievement prize.
Andrew Lloyd Webber was honoured with the BASCA Fellowship Award, and joked that "these lifetime achievement type awards worry me as they might suggest you're at the end of your career but I'm still working as hard as ever!"
