Man And Child Killed In Weir Boat Accident

A man and a child have died after they were plunged into the River Avon when their boat overturned at a weir in Warwickshire.
Two other children were pulled from the water alive after the small rowing boat capsized on Saturday afternoon in Barford, near Warwick.
But the bodies of the third child and the adult were found hours later and both were declared dead at the scene.
Emergency services were called to the village at around 5.30pm after the rowing boat the group were in capsized.
The two children who survived were rescued from the river by a local resident and a police officer shortly after the incident.
One of the children had suffered a cardiac arrest and CPR was given. The child was taken to Warwick Hospital by ambulance and remains seriously ill.
The second child was taken to the same hospital and is described as conscious but poorly.
Local reports said the three children had been seen with life jackets on.
It has not yet been confirmed how the four are related, but local reports said they were all members of the same family.
Barford resident Ali told Sky News: "There is a weir... and the river level is very high at the moment and the current is very fast.
"I think they just got to the weir and the boat just went straight over it, and there would have been nothing they could have done to stop that happening."
She added: "Everybody is devastated. This is not the kind of thing you expect to happen on a sunny Saturday afternoon in a small Warwickshire village."
Numerous resources, including air and land ambulances, the Hazardous Area Response Team and a number of paramedic officers attended the scene.
Police have said that the names of the victims will not be released until formal identification processes have been completed.
