Article: NIGERIANS : Where Did We Go Wrong ?

Hmmmmm…After 8years in Nursery/primary and 6years in High school (secondary) a total of 14years of my life singing the national anthem i never seemed to understand the anthem so well, perhaps i was forced to do so all these years… Another striking question ‎is why all these words in the anthem??? But on the 1st of May, 2012. At the PLATFORM 10.0 (summit) when IBUKUN AWOSIKA asked all delegates to rise and recite the 2nd stanza of the National Anthem that was how i got struck by the genius of all the composers JOHN A. ILECHUKWU, EME ETIM, AKPAN, B.A OGUNAIKA, SOTA OMOIGUI AND P.O. ADERIBIGHE. And directed by B.E .Odaise (Nigerian police force). And how they could see the future from the past….
The second stanza below please read it with all your heart

O God of creation
Direct our noble cause
Guide our leaders right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And living just and true
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace
And justice shall reign.

O GOD OF CREATION, DIRECT OUR NOBLE CAUSE,- this is more than just an anthem but a prayer we need to say every morning for our great nation, but in Nigeria, what exactly is our identifiable noble cause? Is it this God of creation who created IBB,OBJ,GEJ,SARAKI, All our corrupt Ministers and Mr. Tim Russert, the moderator of meet the press, servant of the people and a terrific patriotic citizen of America or are we a people that is self destructive? Nigerians since independence have neither known nor made aware of our nation's noble cause. For now, most Nigerians, young and old, understand noble cause to mean just looting, stealing, and no hard work to earn daily wage. Because the so called "CABAL" are getting away with it, in the citizens' views, it must be noble.
GUIDE OUR LEADERS RIGHT: wow this is all we need, a leader well guided by God but this is just an opposite of what we have in our Nation, Our leaders are ALL in the wrong direction fighting for 'I' and not 'WE/US' that elected them into office , Nothing is getting better apart from corruption which any Nigerian leader can deliver lectures in the world about or enter the Guinness book of record.
HELP OUR YOUTH THE TRUTH TO KNOW: I believe this is the root of our problems, our youth are so mislead by our leaders and instead of us to fight for the right person to be in power we go for the rich that is ready to drop money before elections and at the end We are all quick to blame the leaders without understanding that we are indeed the leaders
IN LOVE AND HONESTY TO GROW AND LIVING JUST AND TRUE , where is the love in our great nation? Where we kill ourselves daily, where is the Honesty in Nigeria? Where subsidy of 300bn claimed 1.3tn ,where an individual , a serving senator for that matter liquidated one of our top banks in Nigeria, Where billions of dollars disappeared from Pensions fund, so without honesty we can't grow which is what we are facing now… Living in just and true these words to me is meant for next generation and not us coz we are far from it…
GREAT LOFTY HEIGHTS ATTAIN, TO BUILD A NATION WHERE PEACE AND JUSTICE SHALL REIGN: great lofty heights attain, How? When?, Where?, this can't be Nigeria except we are telling ourselves lies… Peace is far from this Nation and for the past 1week BH (pls get the meaning yourself i don't want my house to turn another Thisday's office) has been in front of all Nigerian dailies for one attack or the other. And the best 'our' president can say is that we will soon overpower the almighty BH, which he formerly said they are part of his Government. Justice is nowhere to be found all our past leaders arrested for corrupt practices are set free after months of arrest and enjoying the looted money which you don't need a soothsayer to tell you, but ordinary Nigerians are arrested for stealing N1,000, mobile phone, shoe , bag, lip stick are in prison for years without charging them to court or what have you, the judicial process in Nigeria is so slow and annoying and the only question i can ask is for how long?
In an attempt to force God to answer us, we have established churches and mosques all over our cities, yet, our morality is no better than when we had few mosques and churches. We have prayed for God to guide our leaders right and help our youth the truth to know but to know just what? What truth? Nigerians cannot continue to pray for a breakthrough for our leaders and ability for the youth the truth to know when our politics is for the rich, High school (secondary school) graduate of the 19th century is better than our university graduates of this century. If only we can act on these words, Nigeria will be a better place for us all and tomorrow can be better if we are ready to grab the bull by the horn" so that together we can say, we fought a good fight, we finished the race and we kept the faith according to the tenets of our national anthem to which we behold as citizens of a sovereign nation. Long live NAIJAVIRUS , Long live ADEYEYE TOBA, Long live YOU and Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria…special thanks to CHRIS ODETUNDE……

Its yet another sad day in our Nation losing one of our soccer legends – Rashidi Yekini died at the Age of 49, he was the highest goal scorer for the Super Eagles, with 37 goals in 58 games but unfortunately we are in a country where such exceptional sacrifices are not recognised… He died like a pauper after a brief illness at an undisclosed hospital in Ibadan, May God grant him eternal Rest…RIP the Messi of our Time
