Kompany Nods City To win Against Disgraced United

Man City 1-0 Man United
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany and Joe Hart are delighted with their side's vital 1-0 win over title rivals United.
Manchester City moved back into pole position for the title after Vincent Kompany's first-half header earned a 1-0 win against Manchester United.
Having cut an eight-point deficit at the top to three, another victory was a neccessity for City and they did not disappoint their delirious fans to leap-frog their rivals on goal difference with two games left.
Billed as the "derby of all derbies", the contest began in strangely cagey fashion, but as Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero tore into United's five-man midfield, City were the main threat.
And in first-half injury-time, the blue half of Manchester was jumping as skipper Kompany rose above Chris Smalling to nod in David Silva's corner for the opener.
Danny Welbeck replaced the ineffective Park Ji-Sung to support the frustrated Wayne Rooney up front and United were briefly reignited after the break as the nerves returned to the hosts.
City spurted into life with Yaya Toure's rangy runs and as the tension rose, even the two bosses lost their rag as Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini argued over Nigel de Jong's clumsy tackle on Welbeck.
United desperately poured forward but it left them vulnerable as David de Gea palmed away Gael Clichy's low shot and Nasri wastefully opted not to shoot after dancing around three defenders.
Ferguson's attack continued to mis-fire as City deservedly hung on, meaning wins at Newcastle and at home to QPR will ensure they end a 44-year wait for the top-flight trophy.
