Hardman Vinnie Jones Fronts Heart Campaign Tough Guy: Being Hard Saves Lives

Footballer-turned-actor Vinnie Jones is fronting a TV campaign to explain how to save the life of someone who is having a heart attack.
The "kiss of life" is out, viewers are told, while chest compressions are very definitely in.
To the tune of Stayin' Alive, the British Heart Foundation advert says bystanders often do not perform CPR - cardiopulmonary resuscitation - because they are worried about not doing it properly.
But, as Jones insists, it is not so difficult and giving continuous chest compressions at 110 to 120 beats per minute - the same rate as the Bee Gees track - is more effective than trying to do CPR with a poor kiss of life technique.
Anyone who does not have formal CPR training should skip the kiss of life in favour of "hard and fast" compressions in the centre of the chest, the BHF says.
Former Chelsea footballer Jones said: "There really shouldn't be any messing about when it comes to CPR.
"If you're worried about the kiss of life just forget it and push hard and fast in the centre of the chest to Stayin' Alive.
"Hands-only CPR should give have-a-go heroes the confidence to step in and help when somebody is in cardiac arrest."
Jones has personal knowledge of the potential complications caused by heart troubles.
His wife, Tanya, became ill while pregnant and had a heart transplant in 1987.
