Odemwingie capitalised on an error by Richard de Laert to open his account for the season and put his team 1-0 up after three minutes of play against Norwich City at Carrow Road on Sunday.
The Nigerian striker then turned from hero to zero when his penalty ws brilliantly saved by Declan Rudd.
He missed Nigeria's last two international matches against Madagascar and Argentina, after being sidelined by injury. He found the back of the net 15 times last term out in 32 appearances and hopes he can surpass his last term efforts.
