Amy Winehouse Documentary to Be Shopped at Cannes Film Market

Nearly two years after her sudden passing, Amy Winehouse's life will soon make it to the big screen.
Universal Music and documentary filmmaker Asif Kapadia collaborate with Focus Features International to bring the project to the Cannes Film Market next month.

In a statement, the filmmakers shared, "Amy was a once-in-a-generation talent who captured everyone's attention; she wrote and sung from the heart, and everyone fell under her spell. But tragically, Amy seemed to fall apart under the relentless media attention, her troubled relationships, her global success and precarious lifestyle. As a society we celebrated her huge success, but then we were quick to judge her failings when it suited us."
Using unseen archive footage, the movie will follow the "Rehab" singer's rise to the top and her struggles with drugs and alcohol that led to her 2011 death from alcohol poisoning.

Video: “Cherry Wine” Nas Featuring Amy Winehouse

She may have passed away in July 2011 from alcohol poisoning, but Amy Winehouse's musical legacy lives on in the new video for her hit “Cherry Wine” with Nas.
The track, from Nas' Life is Good album, inspired the rapper to include footage of the “Rehab” songstress in the clip as a way of honoring herHe explained, "Part of me didn't want to do the song, Amy and I share a birthday, so she was my sister and she was just so much fun to be around. It's hard to talk about it because she's missed and she's one of a kind. I think it's a magic moment between us, me and her, and may she rest in peace and love."

Amy Winehouse' Family to get her $4.66 Million Fortune

    Late British singer Amy Winehouse' Probate documents showed Wednesday that she left behind assets totaling more than 4.25 million pounds ($6.7 million), with 2.94 million pounds ($4.66 million) remaining after debts and taxes.

    The record shows Winehouse did not leave a will,therefore the money will go to her parents. The documents list father  Mitch winehouse  as administrator of the singer's estate. Nothing goes to her ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, whom she divorced in 2009.

     Winehouse shot to fame with her 2006 album "Back to Black," but struggled for years with drug and alcohol abuse. An inquest found she died of accidental alcohol poisoning.

The 27-year-old soul diva was found dead in bed on July 23 at her London home.
