When all he wanted was something to eat, Forest Whitaker got more than he bargained for at a New York City deli on Friday (February 15).
The “Last Stand” actor was accused of stealing an item off a shelf by an employee of Milano Market, and was frisked in front of other patrons.
Though nothing was found, a rep for the 51-year-old star told
TMZ, “This was an upsetting incident given the fact that Forest did
nothing more than walk into the deli. What is most unfortunate about
this situation is the inappropriate way store employees are treating
patrons of their establishment.”
Mr. Whitaker did not call the police over the incident, although he did ask that the store “change their behavior and treat the public in a fair and just manner.”
The employee and the deli have declined comment.
