Chelsea 5-4 Manchester United (after extra-time). Play by Play

120′ + 1 - Chelsea break as United pour forward for a long ball, Hazard shapes to shoot - and hits the post! And that's it!!! Chelsea through to the quarter finals of the Capital One Cup.
120′ - Penalty Goal - Ryan Giggs (Man Utd.) GIGGS SCORES FROM THE SPOT!!! Two minutes left, can United equalise?
119′ - PENALTY TO UNITED!!! Hernandez fouled by Azpillicueta...
118′ - Yellow Card - Ryan Giggs (Man Utd.)
118′ - Giggs scythes (see what I did there?) down Moses, and could easily have seen red, but is given just a yellow.
116′ - Goal - Ramires (Chelsea FC) RAMIRES SURELY SEALS IT!!! Five for Chelsea as they break forward following United's corner, and Hazard works the ball brilliantly to Ramires, who is clean through on goal. Lindegaard goes to ground, the midfielder round him, and that should be that.
115′ - Yellow Card - Ramires (Chelsea FC)
114′ - Ramires chops down Powell and gets booked for it - Giggs will swing i the free kick... but Chelsea clear it. Now it's their turn to defend in numbers.
113′ - Seven minutes to go - I bet some fans wish this one would go on all night. What a spectacularly deranged game...
111′ - Moses wastes a glorious chance for Chelsea! The winger is clean through, and he only has Lindegaard to beat - but the keeper saves well with his feet and the ball eventually ends up in his arms. So close to a killer blow there.
110′ - Tunnicliffe lines up a volley from 20 yards, but fluffs it and the ball flies into the air. Meanwhile...
109′ - It's all getting a bit much for United's youngsters, who are wilting under the pressure from the likes of scar and Sturridge. They've put up a good fight in this game, but their inexperience is even more pronounced as their energy levels drop.
107′ - Sturridge is close once again here, teasing Tunnicliffe before firing in a curling effort that zips just over Lindegaard's bar. United are running out of steam, but have they got one more goal left in them?
105′ - Yellow Card - Michael Keane (Man Utd.)
105′ - Luiz cracks it against the bar! It was another dipping effort from the Brazilian, and the ball hit the bar, then Lindegaard, and somehow stayed out.
104′ - Keane is lucky to still be on the pitch as he drags back Sturridge with the forward clean through. Very, very lenient from the referee, and Chelsea have a free kick here...
102′ - Cahill almost adds a fifth for the hosts. Oscar swings a great cross in and the defender glances a header just wide.
100′ - Yellow Card - Nani (Man Utd.)
100′ - Yellow Card - Oscar (Chelsea FC)
100′ - It's getting heated here as Oscar and Nani both receive a booking after clashing near Chelsea's box. Still a long way to go.
99′ - Substitution Danny Welbeck Federico Macheda (Man Utd.)
97′ - Goal - Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea FC) 4-3 TO CHELSEA!!! A nightmare for Keane as he looks to head back a long ball to Lindegaard, but it's a weak attempt and Sturridge is in. He's been wasteful tonight but makes no mistake by rounding the keeper and finishing to put Chelsea in the lead for the first time tonight.
96′ - Macheda is ready to come on - the Italian striker has scored some important goals for United in a stop-start career at Old Trafford, but a winner here tonight would do him the world of good.
93′ - So close for Sturridge! Hazard works his magic down the left and beats a few United defenders before finding Sturridge in the box. A moment of hesitation lets him down though as his toe-poked finish is blocked when he should have done better.
93′ - Does either team have what it takes to win it before penalties? Sturridge thinks he can as Lindegaard commits himself, but as the keeper is retreating the forward shoots straight at him when he had two players in support.
91′ - What a game we've had here tonight - Chelsea have equalised three times in a scintillating encounter, with two goals coming from the penalty spot courtesy of United's youngsters making rash tackles. We'll have another 30 minutes here, which will suit the neutrals just fine.
90′ + 5 - IT'S 3-3!!! Wootton foolishly blundered into Ramires and it's another definite penalty. The pressure is on Hazard but it doesn't show as he rolls a penalty straight down the centre as Lindegaard dives to his left. We'll have extra time then...
90′ + 4 - Penalty Goal - Eden Hazard (Chelsea FC) PENALTY FOR CHELSEA!!! My my...
90′ + 2 - Yellow Card - David Luiz (Chelsea FC)
90′ + 2 - Is there one last chance for the hosts? Only seconds left...
90′ + 1 - Luiz dumps Hernandez on the ground and the Brazilian picks up a yellow card. Frustrating for the hosts as it will waste precious seconds.
90′ - Three minutes of injury time and United are pinned in their own half here - can they hang on to another victory at Stamford Bridge this week?
87′ - Cahill has another chance to level here, but his half volley goes high and wide under pressure. We've got three minutes of normal time left - can the hosts push this into extra time?
85′ - Oscar cracks a vicious strike from 25 yards that swerves wildly, and all Lindegaard can do is get two palms to it. United win a free kick immediately, and the danger is gone. The keeper did just enough there.
84′ - Sturridge has a chance after good work with Hazard but can only shoot straight at Lindegaard. The home side are definitely pushing, but time is running out.
83′ - Ooh, it's a great effort as he elects to go up and over the wall this time, but the ball doesn't come down soon enough and flies just over Lindegaard's goal. Close, but not close enough.
82′ - Wootton trips Hazard needlessly 25 yards out, and Mata will have almost a carbon copy of the free kick he scored on Sunday...
81′ - Substitution Anderson Ryan Tunnicliffe (Man Utd.)
80′ - Tunnicliffe comes on for the impressive Anderson. There's 10 minutes to go, and only a goal separates the sides.
79′ - Welbeck is so nearly through but Azpillicuerta denies him by cutting out Nani's cute ball through with a fantastic sliding tackle. Great play all round there.
77′ - Hernandez and Anderson almost combine for a fourth United goal, but the Mexican just can't find the midfielder and the chance goes begging. It's a very open game now, with plenty of time left for this game to swing completely.
76′ - Anderson fires wide from 25 yards - he's got two assists so probably felt entitled to have a go himself, but it's not a great effort at all.
75′ - Lindegaard saves from Moses! The winger has time and space 12 yards out, but can only fire straight at the Dane with the goal gaping. The keeper seems quite grateful for that stroke of luck.
74′ - Replays show Keane raised his arms to block the ball - although the players are close together, it should be a penalty for the hosts. They'll feel hard done by yet again.
72′ - Chelsea feel they should have another penalty here as Mata tries to chip in a cross past Keane but the ball hits him on the arm. The crowd and players appeal, but the referee says no. Yet more controversy in a Chelsea - Manchester United game.
71′ - Substitution Oriol Romeu Oscar (Chelsea FC)
70′ - Off comes Romeu, who has had a disappointing game on a day he suggested would be an important one for him. On comes Oscar to try and turn the tide.
67′ - How does Azpillicueta miss from here? Mata did little in the first half but torments United's defence again in the second 45, and leaves an inviting cross hanging at the back post. The right-back looks certain to score, but somehow heads over with the goal gaping from all of three yards. Once again, how?
64′ - Yellow Card - Scott Wootton (Man Utd.)
64′ - Almost an equaliser for Chelsea here - Mata finds Sturridge on the edge of the area, but his shots is well blocked away for corner. The corner finds its way into the box, and Moses heads over when he really should have scored. Wasteful from the winger when he's put on a good display today.
63′ - Wootton picks up a deserved booking after sliding through Sturridge. He can't pretend he didn't make contact as Sturridge's boot actually came off in the process. He'll have to be careful now.
62′ - It really was a delightful move from United for the goal. Hernandez and Powell played a part, but Nani and Anderson linked well to allow the Portuguese to ghost in behind the hosts' back line. The Brazilian has been in great form tonight with two assists, showing glimpses of the potential Ferguson must have originally seen in him.
60′ - It should be 4-2 here as Anderson's blocked effort from the edge of the area falls to Hernandez 10 yards out on the right. Cech is on the floor and all the Mexican has to do is finish, but he blazes over! What a waste, and Chelsea survive.
59′ - Goal - Nani (Man Utd.) DEJA VU, IT'S 3-2!!! Nani scores a wonderfully-worked team move here, linking beautifully with Anderson before brsting through and chipping a delightful effort over the onrushing Cech. A fine goal, and United lead for the third time.
56′ - Bertrand gets down the left well but Lindegaard gets down low to cut out the cross. Chelsea look hungry for the victory here tonight. Moments later Nani is ajudged to have fouled Bertrand as he looked to lock onto a long ball on the right. That should be an interesting battle as the game goes on.

55′ - Substitution Lucas Piazon Eden Hazard (Chelsea FC)
55′ - Hazard is on for the hosts, which should spell danger for United here. The Belgian has been in fantastic form so far this season, and looks raring to go tonight.
52′ - Goal - Gary Cahill (Chelsea FC) CHELSEA ARE LEVEL AGAIN!!! Mata whips in a corner which Gary Cahill meets brilliantly with his head, and while Rafael gets his head to it on the post, the ball was well over the line. The goal is given, and the hosts equalise once again.
48′ - Sturridge almost scores twice! First he bursts away from the United defence on the right and it takes a last-ditch slide from Rafael to prevent a shot, and then Chelsea swing in an early cross with United switching off completely. The defenders aren't ready, Lindegaard is still in his net, but the forward tried an impudent flick when he had time to take the ball down and finish. A let-off for the visitors.
47′ - Powell almost adds a third for United! The midfielder works some space well to get around Ramires and takes a snap shot from 30 yards which Cech does well to tip around the post. He's a long-range specialist, and Chelsea will have to be wary of him.
46′ - Substitution Alexander Büttner Nick Powell (Man Utd.)
46′ - Substitution John Obi Mikel Ramires (Chelsea FC)
46′ - We're underway for the second half and Mikel has been replaced by Ramires after being booked early on. Nick Powell is on in place of Buttner, who found it all a little bit taxing in those first 45 minutes against Moses. It looks like Fletcher will fill in at the back for Ferguson's side.
… - It's half time here and United lead Chelsea courtesy of a couple of nightmare moments at the back - quite apt on a night like this really. Giggs got us underway after Romeu froze, Luiz equalised from the penalty spot, but the Brazilian gifted United the lead after a rash run forward. It's all set up for a fantastic second 45 minutes.
45′ - There's no doubt Luiz is exciting when he bursts forward, but he needlessly gave the ball away with options around him. Once he lost it, Chelsea were horribly exposed, with his compatriot finding the Mexican in between exposed defenders. Another clinical finish for United, and they'll go in ahead at half time.
43′ - Goal - Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez (Man Utd.) UNITED LEAD AGAIN!!! Great goal from United here, and the penalty scorer Luiz is at fault this time. He surges into United's half but loses the ball, and Anderson finds Hernandez with a beautiful pass through, with the Mexican doing what he does best - finishing past Chelsea.
42′ - Where's Buttner going? He loves to get forward but looked lost at left back there, trying to twist and turn out of danger before ceding possession to Moses. Chelsea can't fashion a chance however, and the Dutchman can breathe again.
40′ - Anderson has had an industrious half for the hosts, and Luiz has to be quick to clear his ball over the top to Hernandez. The midfielder is operating on the right of a central three, and looks to be enjoying cutting in on his favoured left foot.
31′ - Penalty Goal - David Luiz (Chelsea FC) AND CHELSEA EQUALISE!!! Luiz squeezes in a penalty after Moses teases Buttner on the right and the Dutch defender naively goes to ground. Clear penalty, and although Lindegaard guesses right and gets a hand to the ball, the Brazilian levels it up for the hosts.
29′ - For the second time in a week Chelsea are behind at home to Manchester United - can the home side get their way back into this tie? They've looked creative going forward, and have great options on the bench in the form of Oscar and Eden Hazard, so don't write them off..
25′ - Yellow Card - John Obi Mikel (Chelsea FC)
22′ - Goal - Ryan Giggs (Man Utd.) GOAL FOR UNITED! Cech takes the goal kick and passes 25 yards to Romeu, who gets himself into all kinds of bother as Anderson expertly dispossesses him.
20′ - It's Buttner who takes it, with Giggs teeing him up, but the defender blasts wide. And what do we have here...
19′ - Rafael slips twice in the box as he attempts to clear a cross, and the ball works its way to Romeu from 25 yards out, but he only lash an effort wide. And now Nani has another chance with a free kick...
18′ - Sturridge finds Moses with a clever ball, and the winger is up against Wootton. He tries to take on the defender but gets himself into a tangle, falls over, handles it, and gives away a free kick. Not exactly by the book, but promising.
15′ - United break forward and Welbeck has a chance to shoot from the left of the box - his effort has some curve on it but Cech reads the bounce and grasps gratefully to his chest. United have seen more of the ball, but it's fairly open at the moment - which should make for a great cup tie.
12′ - Yellow Card - Oriol Romeu (Chelsea FC)
9′ - United have started just as the team-sheet suggested - they're shaky at the back but look confident every time they go forward. They win a corner but Luiz clears the ball as United try to work a chance.
7′ - Sturridge is through again here after a gorgeous cross from Victor Moses on the right that eludes the United defence, but the forward comically trips over the ball in his eagerness to control it in the area free for a shot. He can't keep the ball in play, and United survive for no

6′ - It's great to see Fletcher back playing football again, but he passes straight to Daniel Sturridge in his own half here and Chelsea should have a chance on goal - but the forward can only find a United defender with Mata free on his left. Two terrible passes in 10 seconds, and the Scottish midfielder will be relieved.
3′ - United are looking to build from the right and Giggs almost finds Hernandez, but the pass doensn't have enough weight on it and Chelsea clear. Then Luiz bursts forward confidently, but balloons an effort way, way, way over Lindegaard's bar from 30 yards. Terrible effort, but a decent start from both sides.
1′ - We're off here, and Fletcher almost sets Hernandez through with a punted tackle in his own half, but it runs straight through to Cech. Already we've seen that Luiz may be susceptible to the Mexican's pace on the shoulder, so that should be an intriguing battle.
