Gabby Douglas’ Father Speaks Out After Child Neglect

After being arrested in March for child neglect, Gabby’s father is speaking out about his strained relationship with his daughter.
Although Timothy Douglas was in London for the Olympics, he claims he was not in the stands to watch his daughter, Gabby Douglas, win Olympic gold because she refused to give him tickets to the competition.
“I feel like I’ve been the best father that I can be to my daughter and to my family,” Timothy told The National Enquirer.

While Gabby was training hard for London, her father was arrested on March 8 for contributing to the delinquency of a child.

There isn’t a lot of information available about Timothy’s charges. The warrant described the charge as “contribution to the delinquency of a minor” with a sub-clause that states Gabby’s father “rendered a child under the age of 18 abused or neglected.”

After winning Olympic gold, Gabby told reporters that her estranged father abandoned her family when she was very young, causing them to struggle financially.

Despite his strained relationship, Timothy beamed with pride over his daughter when he spoke to The National Enquirer.

“I’m so proud of my daughter and everything she has accomplished,” Timothy gushed. “So much has happened over the last few weeks that I need to just slow down and take a breath!”

He then added, “Word can’t describe all the love and happiness I have in my heart for her right now.”

When questioned about his child neglect allegations, he avoided the subject.

“I’m trying to keep things positive right now, because there have been a lot of things said about me.”
