But Tom's trip to NYC was more than just parental visitation — he wanted to spoil his 6-year-old daughter rotten.
Although Katie Holmes as primary custody of her daughter, she has reason to be concerned.
"Tom spared no expense during his reunion with Suri," an source told Star. "He made up for lost time with more than $170,000 worth of extravagent gifts, lavish buffets of her favorite foods at their five-start hotel, and a round-trip helicopter ride to the beach."
Katie also has to be the main disciplinarian — the "bad cop" — while Tom gets to swoop in and be the fun, doting father.
An insider for Star also spent about an hour with Tom and Suri at the Greenwich Hotel indoor pool, where she said the two were laughing, playing around, and overall showing a lot of love. When Suri asked for a lemonade, she got one. When she changed her mind and wanted a ginger ale, she got that too.
After Suri's visit with her dad, which included a couple nights in an extravagant hotel suite and a helicopter ride to the Hamptons, she was not pleased to be back with Katie.
