Portugal Still Alive

Substitute Silvestre Varela was the late matchwinner as Portugal kept their Euro 2012 hopes alive with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Denmark.
Nicklas Bendtner looked to have left Paulo Bento's side on the brink of an early exit with his second of the game 10 minutes from time, but Varela made up for Cristiano Ronaldo's profligacy with a fierce 87th-minute strike.
With both sides now on three points, a so-called 'Group of Death' is a group wide open, ahead of Germany's meeting with Holland.
Denmark, chests puffed out after that shock opening win over Holland, had started the brightest until injury to Niki Zimling - replaced by Jakob Poulsen - checked a little of their momentum.
Ronaldo had been earmarked as the threat but it was Nani who provided the headed opener for Pepe with an inswinging cross (24), and then the second with a square past that Helder Postiga swept in first time (36).
Bendtner gave the Danes a lifeline when he nodded Michael Krohn-Delhi headed pass into an empty net minutes later (41) and completed the rally when he beat Pepe at the back post.
Ronaldo looked set to shoulder the burden after spurning a one-on-one chance, before rounding the keeper and then inexplicably shooting wide, but Varela's swivel and low strike saved the day
