Pair Held After Campsite Girl, 6, Dies "Camping Couple Held After Girl Dies"

A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the
death of a six-year-old girl on a campsite in the New Forest.
The man, aged 30, and a 40-year-old woman, are both from Gosport, Hampshire.
Paramedics were called to the Holmsley campsite in Bransgore, Dorset,
just after midnight on Good Friday.
A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service said that when they
arrived, the girl was "fitting and not breathing".
"The child went into cardiac arrest and adrenaline was administered,"
the spokesperson said.
She was taken to Southampton General Hospital, where she was confirmed dead.
Police continued examinations at the scene and gathered witness
statements on Friday.
A Hampshire Police spokeswoman added that the detained couple are
still being interviewed and police are liaising with family members of
the dead youngster.
A blue Volkswagen Golf was also from the campsite.
The girl was part of a group of families staying in four tents at the site.
One woman Sky News spoke to said she heard a car horn sounding loudly
for a long time at around midnight, followed by a woman screaming and
then later an ambulance siren.
Many families have said they are keen to go home and surrounding
campsites are now full up.
The site is operated by the Camping and Caravanning Club, which runs
camping in the New Forest.
Club spokesman Jon Dale said: "We are aware of the incident and sorry
to hear the sad news.
"We are helping the police with their investigations. (Our) thoughts
are with friends and family at this difficult time."
The Holmsley site is one of the best equipped in the New Forest, rated
four out of five by the club, and is near the A35 road between
Lyndhurst and Christchurch.
It was built on a former World War II airfield on the edge of the
forest and is near the village of Burley.
The campsite roads and parking spots utilise the old wartime taxiways
and aircraft hardstandings.
The 600-pitch site is family-orientated and includes a store that
sells groceries, camping goods and games.
Mr Dale added: "The campsite is closed to new arrivals and current
campers have been asked to remain on site whilst police investigate
the incident."
