Africa's Soccer Star "Emmanuel Adebayor" Finally Ends Goal Drought

Tottenham saw off a spirited Swansea side 3-1 to end a seven-week wait for a league win and revive hopes of a third-placed finish.
Rafael van der Vaart opened the scoring and then set up the first of Emmanuel Adebayor's brace after Gylfi Sigurdsson hit back, to lift the hosts level on points with rivals Arsenal.
The Gunners had slipped up across town a day earlier and signs they would pay soon bore fruit when Van der Vaart, killing the ball's sting as he barely broke stride, converted Gareth Bale's cross (19).
Neil Taylor's strike and Ashley Williams' glancing header were reminders of Swansea threat but Spurs' pressing game had stifled their midfield until a tactical change at the break.
Sigurdsson pushed forward and forced Brad Friedel into a fine left-handed save minutes before his half-volley bounced up off the turf and over the American (59).
But Spurs, sensing urgency, made a change of their own and Aaron Lennon's arrival, bringing new zip and balance, proved pivotal.
Van der Vaart's corner found Adebayor in ample space to head home what proved the winner (73), but there was time for the Togo striker to rise for another (86), Lennon this time the provider.
