Family Of Stabbed Girl: Loss Is 'So Painful'

The family of a 13-year-old girl stabbed to death in a park in Doncaster has said her loss is "so painful words cannot begin to explain".    
Casey-Lyanne Kearney, 13, was attacked in Elmfield Park, Doncaster, just after 1pm on Tuesday.
She managed to call police and a passer-by phoned for an ambulance, but despite doctors' efforts she died in hospital hours later.
A 26-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with her murder.
Hannah Bonser, of Cusworth House, Doncaster, who is also charged with two counts of possessing a bladed item, was remanded in custody.
A post-mortem examination determined that the 13-year-old died of a single stab wound to the abdomen.
In a statement, Casey-Lyanne's family said: "Losing Casey has been so painful words cannot begin to explain.
"She was the most beautiful, intelligent and bright young girl with her whole life ahead of her.
"We need time alone with family and friends to start to come to terms with our loss.
"We would like the media to respect our privacy at this time."
John Willis, who comforted the wounded youngster, said he was alerted by his two sons who saw her lying on the ground semi-conscious.
He said: "We got her in the recovery position. She didn't move a lot and she didn't speak. Her breathing was very shallow and she was very pale.
"The police arrived very promptly and took over the situation. I was very upset, it was very shocking."
Detective Superintendent Terry Mann, of South Yorkshire Police, said officers were trying to establish Casey-Lyanne's movements after she left her home in Rossington at around midday on Tuesday.
He said she was intending to catch the bus to Doncaster town centre where she planned to meet a friend.
He appealed for any members of the public who were in or near the park at lunchtime on Tuesday and either saw anything suspicious, or Casey-Lyanne herself, to get in touch.

Det Supt Mann said two knives had been recovered at the scene.
He told reporters Casey-Lyanne's family had been left traumatised by the death.
The officer added: "They are a loving family. We have family liaison officers with the parents. It is a very, very sad case."
Elmfield Park remains closed to the public while police continue their investigation.
